CPL(H) - Commercial Pilot License Helicopter

HELITOM s.r.o. provides flight and theoretical training for obtaining a helicopter commercial pilot license in the CPL(H) modular course. The CPL(H) pilot license entitles you to exercise all the rights acquired by a private helicopter pilot license, the function of pilot-in-command or co-pilot for non-commercial air transport flights, the function of pilot-in-command of single-pilot helicopters and co-pilot of multi-pilot helicopters deployed in commercial air transport. The qualification of a commercial pilot allows you to fly against payment.

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age before applying for the license

  • Class 1 Medical Certificate before first solo flight

  • Valid radiotelephone operator´s certificate before first solo flight
  • Flight-time on helicopters before starting course CPL(H) at least 155 flight hours without considering possible reliefs

  • Practical part: 30 - 35 flight hours
  • Theoretical part: 250 hours
  • Areas covered:
    1. Aviation law and ATC procedures
    2. VFR communication
    3. Human performance and limitations
    4. Weight and balance
    5. Performance - helicopters
    6. General knowledge of aircraft
    7. Instrumentation
    8. Meteorology
    9. General navigation
    10. Radionavigation

Course progress

The theoretical training will be in form of professional lectures in the Helitom s.r.o. classrooms and in the form of self-study. To tackle the theoretical preparation, the course's participants are given access to an e-learning and testing software that allows effective preparation for theoretical exams at the Civil Aviation Authority. The total length of the CPL(H) course is at least 250 hours, of which at least 25 hours will be in the form of professional lectures in a classroom.

Successful completion of theoretical preparation is confirmed by the issue of a certificate of completion of theoretical training, which is necessary for enrolling the theoretical examinations at the Civil Aviation Authority. The primary content of practical flight training is, in addition to revision of basic piloting and skills, extending the practical skills by performing advanced take-offs and landings, scheduling of navigational flights, including the use of radio navigational equipment, flight plan submission and flights to controlled aerodromes. During the practical training a special emphasis is given on instrumented flights and emergency management.

The duration of the practical training is at least 30 flight hours. In the case when the frequent flyer does not hold a qualification for VFR night flights, the curriculum is extended by 5 flight hours for night flight training.

After successful passing the theoretical examinations at the Civil Aviation Authority, the CPL(H) training course ends with flight skills check with an authorized examiner and the subsequent issue of a helicopter commercial pilot license.
