The HELITOM helicopter school provides a course for obtaining flight instructor qualifications FI(H). This course is intended for helicopter pilots aiming to pass on their aviation experience to new helicopter pilots.
Requirements:
PPL(H) qualification
Successfully passed the theoretical examinations CPL(H) at Civil Aviation Authority
A minimum 18 years of age before applying for an instructor qualification
At least 250 hours of total flight time on helicopters prior to the application for instructor qualification
Practical part: 30 - 31.5 flight hours
Theoretical part: 70 - 125 hours
Course progress
After successful completion of the pre-accession flight test with an authorized instructor, the candidate for flight instructor qualification shall undergo theoretical and practical training.
The theoretical training with a total duration of at least 125 teaching hours contains, in addition to subjects focused on helicopter flying, the basics of pedagogical knowledge. Practical flight training shall consist of at least 30 flight hours in dual control.
The helicopter flight instructor course is finished by examination with an authorized examiner, which includes a test sample lecture on the selected topic of theoretical instruction, a demonstration of the instruction of pre-flight and flight preparation, and finally a flight test in a helicopter.
