TYPE INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS

TRI - Type Rating Instructor HELICOPTERS


The helicopter type instructor qualification allows type rating holders to fulfill the role of an instructor on a given helicopter type, even if they do not have an FI(H) qualification. The HELITOM helicopter school allows you to obtain a type instructor qualification for all helicopter types operated.

Requirements:

  • CPL(H) or ATPL(H) license
  • A minimum 18 years of age before applying for an instructor qualification
  • At least 15 flight hours of total flight time on the type of helicopter for which the training shall be conducted
  • At least 250 hours of total helicopter flight time before applying for a TRI in the case of a candidate for a single-engine helicopter type instructor qualification
  • At least 500 hours of total helicopter flight time before applying for a TRI rating in the case of a candidate for a multi-engine helicopter type instructor qualification, including 100 hours as commander of a single-pilot multi-engine helicopters
  • Practical part: 5 flight hours
  • Theoretical part: 10 - 35 hours

Course progress


The type instructor course consists of theoretical and practical training. The theoretical part includes at least 35 teaching hours covering technical theoretical knowledge and the basics of pedagogy. The length and complexity of practical flight training depends on the complexity of the helicopter and its operation. However, it always contains at least 5 flight hours in dual control.
